Skyrenu supports the "Adopt a Stream" project coordinated by GROBEC

At Skyrenu, we believe that industrial innovation must evolve in line with the protection of ecosystems. Our commitment to decarbonization is accompanied by concrete involvement in our community.
It is in this spirit that we supported the project "Monitored rivers – I'm adopting a stream", coordinated by the Bécancour area watershed consultation group (GROBEC).
51 students mobilized for the Osgood River
The project involved 51 students from Cégep de Thetford, divided into two groups from the Natural Sciences program.
According to the project report (page iv and following), the students participated in:
- Physicochemical analysis of the Osgood River
- Sampling of aquatic invertebrates
- Characterization of the sampling station
- Laboratory identification of the collected species
- The overall assessment of the biological health of the watercourse
These activities combined classroom workshops and field trips directly to the river (see section 1 of the report, pages iv-v).
Results: a biological health index of 26/30
The analyses established a biological health index of 26/30, corresponding to a GOOD level (page viii, figure 6 of the report).
The physicochemical parameters measured include, in particular (page ix, figure 7):
- Temperature: 18 ° C
- Dissolved oxygen: 6 mg/L
- pH: 8
- Turbidity: 5 UTN
- Nitrates: 2,00 mg/L
- Conductivity: 240 µS/cm
This data was used to establish the environmental diagnosis of the site studied.

Supporting the next generation of scientists
Beyond the results, this project demonstrates the importance of applied science education. Seeing students conduct field analyses, interpret biological data, and understand the dynamics of an aquatic ecosystem represents a concrete lever for training the next generation of scientists and engineers.
At Skyrenu, we develop modular, low-concentration CO₂ capture systems for industrial applications. We firmly believe that responsible industrial development must be based on:
- Scientific rigor
- Measuring environmental impacts
- The involvement of local stakeholders
- Training the next generation
Technological progress and the protection of natural resources are not opposed. They must advance together.
