PEVCA is pleased to welcome two key players in the carbon capture and sequestration industry among its ranks
PRESS RELEASE
Thetford Mines, February 5, 2025 – The Chaudière-Appalaches Green Economic Hub is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its network: Deep Sky et Skyrenu Technologies Inc. These two innovative companies join ECO2 Magnesia Inc., SIGMA Devtech Inc., KSM Inc., 3R Mineral Inc., Biogenie Canada Inc. and Exterra Solutions Carbone Inc. to form a group of growing companies that showcase Quebec innovation and technology to fully exploit the potential of mining residues and former mining sites in the region while contributing to the fight against climate change.
Skyrenu Technologies Inc. (Skyrenu), a company founded in Quebec in 2021, has a mission to help end the climate crisis by capturing and sequestering greenhouse gases. Skyrenu has developed an innovative direct air capture system that uses an inexpensive and environmentally friendly solid adsorbent in a cycle that minimizes energy demand to reduce capture costs. This system captures CO2 directly from the atmosphere. Skyrenu is among the 20 finalists of the prestigious international XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition. The company aims to deploy a commercial facility for direct CO capture at the Normandie mine site.2 combined with sequestration technology that revalues mining residues.
Established in Quebec, Deep Sky brings together under one roof the most promising companies in direct carbon capture in the air and oceans in order to bring to market the largest number of high-quality carbon credits. In Thetford Mines, on the site of the British Canadian mine, Deep Sky wants to evaluate the feasibility of in situ mineralization, a process by which CO2 is injected into rocky soils which react by converting CO2 in rock. If the potential proves positive, Deep Sky will build facilities for the capture and permanent storage of CO2 large-scale atmospheric.

As a reminder :
The companies and projects grouped under the PEVCA now represent:
· Multi-billion dollar investments, including a potential of over $2,5 billion for the Deep Sky project alone;
· The potential to capture and store one million tonnes of CO2 per year (per well);
· Approximately 400 new skilled, well-paid jobs, in addition to hundreds of additional jobs created during the various phases of construction;
· 200 million tonnes of mining residues processed and recovered;
· A revegetated landscape. To date, more than 150 hectares of mining waste have been revegetated and more than 50 trees have been planted.
