An international visit to the heart of our direct air capture technology

We recently had the honor of hosting the team from XPRIZE Carbon Removal in Quebec, as part of their world tour to meet with teams developing carbon removal solutions.

This visit represents an important recognition of our work in Direct Air Capture (DAC) and our approach focused on sustainable, secure and measurable sequestration.

Introducing our direct air capture solution

The visit began at our Sherbrooke offices, where we presented our technology exclusive direct air capture.

Our system is based on:

  • un low-cost solid adsorbent,
  • un continuous process of adsorption and regeneration,
  • another modular designfacilitating large-scale deployment.

This approach aims to capture CO₂ directly from the atmosphere, while minimizing energy demand and operating costs, a central issue for the viability of DAC technologies.

Deployment of systems near sequestration sites

The visit continued in Thetford Mines, where we presented our strategy for locating capture systems directly near CO₂ sequestration sites.

This approach enables:

  • de reduce CO₂ transport,
  • to increase the operational security,
  • to improve theoverall efficiency of the process.

Our systems are designed to be powered by renewable electricity, notably through the Hydro-Québec network, thus reinforcing the environmental consistency of the solution.

A technology supported by local communities

Discussions with local representatives and stakeholders highlighted the importance of technological development rooted in communities.

Direct air capture projects can generate:

  • some skilled jobs,
  • some regional economic benefits,
  • another sustainable development of existing industrial sites.

This social dimension is an integral part of our vision for the climate transition.

Skyrenu and XPRIZE Carbon Removal

XPRIZE's visit confirms the relevance of the work carried out by Skyrenu in the context of international carbon removal initiatives.

Quebec lays the groundwork for geological carbon storage. Even with ambitious climate policies, some emissions will remain difficult to eliminate. Heavy industry, agriculture, and aviation will continue to generate residual emissions in Quebec. Achieving carbon neutrality will therefore require not only reducing emissions, but also permanently removing CO₂ from…
